Welcome!
I’m Christina, a photographer and storyteller. I’m also a wife and Mum to 4 kids.
I’ve wanted to be a photographer since the age of 14, but life took me in another direction. My first camera was a pink, 35mm point and shoot - I loved it! It was the 1980s, when you’d drop your film off at the Chemist, and wait in anticipation for the printed copies. Now I enjoy experimenting with digital SLRs, iPhones, Lightroom, Photoshop and filters. It’s so much fun!
I studied Communications at University and did a few photography subjects, but travel abroad as a backpacker led me into the world of conference and event organising, an area of work I thrived in. For almost 30 years I worked in the tourism / hospitality / conference & event management industry; but in my maturity, I’ve decided to go back to my first love - photography.
I’m currently studying at the Photography Studies College in Melbourne, Australia, with the hope to major in photojournalism down the track. I lived in the US from late 2018 - mid 2021 where my curiosity in all things America piqued. I used my time abroad to experience, learn, and capture as much as I could. While there, I undertook a photography workshop with ‘Momenta’ - who help storytellers expand their skills and harness their passion for social change; and since then, have completed street photography workshops in Santa Barbara and Paris.
Along with my Instagram account @christinadayphotography, this blog is a place to share my photos, some stories, and anything else that might be of interest - in particular, issues that touch my heart. Living abroad has helped me to see life in some beautifully different ways, and I’m excited to share it with you.
Enjoy! And thank you for following…
